Kevin Spacey is retaliating against an upcoming documentary about sexual abuse claims against the troubled actor.
The "House of Cards" star hit back at British network Channel 4, which will air the two-part documentary "Spacey Unmasked" next week, alongside streaming service Max in the United States. The actor claimed in a post on X that the network did not allow him enough time to respond to allegations "dating back 48 years" and did not provide him "sufficient details to investigate these matters."
The documentary, according to its description, will follow Spacey's life from childhood to his success on Broadway, TV and film "through to his spectacular fall from grace as he faces accusations of sexual harassment and abuse." The two-part docuseries will air May 6 and 7 on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, and will also be available to stream on Max in the United States, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. A U.S. air date has not been announced.
In a statement provided to USA TODAY on Friday, Channel 4 said, "Kevin Spacey has been given sufficient opportunity to respond."

"Channel 4 has refused on the basis that they feel that asking for a response in seven days to new, anonymized and non-specific allegations is a 'fair opportunity' for me to refute any allegations made against me,'" Spacey claimed, adding that he "will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network's one-sided 'documentary' about me in their desperate attempt for ratings."
USA TODAY has reached out to Spacey's reps for comment.
The documentary will feature "never-seen-before interviews and archive material" including "multiple men" unconnected to nine previous charges of sexual abuse, for which Spacey was acquitted in 2023, according to Channel 4.

In July 2023, Spacey, 64, was acquitted of nine sexual assault charges after a four-week-long trial in London. He was charged with sexual and indecent assault and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent after accusations by four men in Britain.
Three of the men accused the actor of grabbing their crotches. The fourth said he woke up to the actor performing oral sex on him after going to the "Usual Suspects" actor's London apartment for a beer and either passing out or falling asleep. The accusations date from 2001 to 2013.
